This very rare Shaker candlestand dates from the very earliest part of the 19th century. The stand was likely made at the New Lebanon New York community and it features the ultimate in Shaker design. The wood is cherry with a brownish red stained surface that appears to be entirely original. With it's highly arched spider legs and bottle shaped balister the table is simply classic Shaker. A very similar square topped table can be seen in "THE BOOK OF SHAKER FURNITURE", by John Kassay on page 198 and another example was sold at Skinner's in Bolton, Massachusetts on October 26, of 1997. The stand displays with a grace and elegance seen only in the very finest of early 19th century American Furniture.
