RARE EARLY 19TH CENTURY HAND STENCILED THEOREM ON VELVET

Early 19th Century Theorem on Velvet

This early 19th century hand stenciled velvet theorem features an exaggerated, very long handled basket with a wonderful large beetle at the baskets base. While theorems with out of the ordinary compositions that include birds and butterfiles are quite uncommon, those with beetles or other oddball critters are exceedingly rare. We offer this example for your consideration, it displays a sense of fun and free thinking that is seldom seen in theorems and even less often available for purchase. The frame dates from the mid to late 19th century and is not original to the artwork.
