GREAT EARLY 19th CENTURY SILHOUETTE IN SMOKE GRAINED FRAME

Early Silhouette in Smoke Grained Frame

This offering is for a spectacular little silhouette of a young lady identified on the back as Mrs Eli Taintor. The silhouette is quite interesting in it's manner of cutting in that the background paper also serves as the womans collar. The original smoke grained painted frame is simply wonderful with a spectacular untouced surface having an excellent patina. The pair make a beautiful and seldom encountered statement of early American Art.
