This wonderful early tin candle sconce dates to the 1st quarter of the 19th century. The sconce was made by a talented smith who fashioned a verticle ribbed design on each side that served to provide both decoration and strength. The top of the sconce features a 45 degree bend to serve as a smoke deflector and the base has a slightly overhanging foot.
